What it looks at

The five checks

When a homeowner asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google for a contractor, those tools can only name the businesses whose websites they can read. The audit looks at your home page the way a crawler sees it and runs five checks. Each one has a plain meaning, a reason it matters and a clear sign that it passes.

  1. Structured business data (JSON-LD)

What it reads: your name, services and service area, written in a format search tools trust.

Why it matters: It lets search tools and AI assistants read who you are and what you do without guessing.

What a pass looks like: the audit finds it on your home page, in the form that tool expects, and the part scores high.

  2. llms.txt file

What it reads: a short guide that points AI crawlers straight to the pages that matter.

Why it matters: It sends AI crawlers to the pages that matter instead of leaving them to find their own way.

What a pass looks like: the audit finds it on your home page, in the form that tool expects, and the part scores high.

  3. FAQ markup

What it reads: answers to real customer questions, marked up so an AI assistant can quote them.

Why it matters: Marked-up answers are easy for an AI assistant to quote when someone asks about your trade.

What a pass looks like: the audit finds it on your home page, in the form that tool expects, and the part scores high.

  4. Google SEO basics

What it reads: titles, descriptions, headings, links and whether Google may index the page.

Why it matters: A clear title, headings a crawler can follow and pages Google is allowed to index are the base everything else sits on.

What a pass looks like: the audit finds it on your home page, in the form that tool expects, and the part scores high.

  5. Page speed

What it reads: Google Lighthouse on a phone profile.

Why it matters: Slow pages lose customers and crawlers alike.

What a pass looks like: the audit finds it on your home page, in the form that tool expects, and the part scores high.

The number

How the score works

Each of the five checks is scored out of 100, and the five scores are averaged into the one number you see. A higher number means your site is easier for a machine to read and quote. A lower number tells you which of the five parts to fix first.

The score measures how readable your site is. It does not predict whether ChatGPT will name your company, because nobody can promise that. What it does tell you is whether the basics are in place so that you are not left out for a reason you could have fixed in an afternoon.

What happens next

What you get

  • Your score in seconds, on screen, with the five parts broken out so you can see which ones are weak.
  • Your email is optional. Leave it blank and you still get everything above.
  • If you add an email, we send your results and our free step-by-step guide to fixing what we found.
  • If you want the full report, ask for the deep scan. It reads more of your site and is emailed to you as a PDF.

There is no card to enter and no list to join. The audit is free because we would rather you see the problem first, and decide what to do about it afterwards.

Sites we scored

These are websites we built or fixed, scored with our own five-part check and re-checked on October 10, 2026. Restoration Roofing SC shows what happens when the AI work is stripped out of a site. The full story is on the results page .

What happens when you don't own your site

Restoration Roofing SC

We designed and built this site with the AI-search work in it. Then the owner signed with an outside SEO company and handed the site over. The AI-search work was taken out.

Today it scores 51. It can still be found on Google the old way, but ChatGPT and Google's AI answers have much less to read. That is why every site we build is yours, in your name, from the first day.

Same check, October 10, 2026: no llms.txt and no FAQ markup on the homepage.

Scores come from our own five-part AI-search check: structured business data, an llms.txt file, FAQ markup, Google SEO basics (titles, headings, indexing) and page speed. Starting scores were measured in August 2026, before our last round of AI-search fixes. Today's scores are from the same free check you can run on this site, on the live home pages on October 10, 2026 (Nova Roofing: its service pages). Other AI-search audits weigh different things and give different numbers. Click any site to see it live.

Questions

About the free audit

Is the audit really free?

Yes. A web address is all it asks for. There is no card, no trial and no catch, and the score appears on the page in seconds. The audit comes first so you can see where your site stands before you decide anything else.

Do I need to give you my email?

No. Your name and email are optional. Leave them blank and you still get your score and all five parts on screen. If you do add an email, we send your results and our free step-by-step guide to fixing what the audit found.

What does the audit read?

Your home page, the way a crawler sees it before any scripts run. That is how ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers first meet your site, so it is the fair place to start. It checks five things: your structured business data, your llms.txt file, your FAQ markup, your Google SEO basics and your page speed on a phone.

How long does it take?

Seconds. Type in your address, press the button and the score and the five parts show on the page. The deeper report, which reads more of your site, takes a few minutes and arrives by email.

Will you call me after I run it?

Only if you ask. The audit form has no phone number field, and it does not sign you up for a list or a newsletter. If you later request the deep scan and add a phone number for a follow-up call, we call. If you leave the number off, we do not.

What do I do with the score?

Read the five parts and see which ones are weak. If you want the full report, with the exact code and files your site is missing, ask for the deep scan. If you would rather talk it through, book a strategy call and we walk through the audit together.
